Kia EV6 Review 2026 – India’s Best Premium Electric Car?

    support@wheelxpress.comBy support@wheelxpress.comJuly 4, 2026Updated:July 4, 2026No Comments4 Mins Read

The Kia EV6 is in a different universe from India’s mainstream EV market — at ₹60.95 lakh, it’s positioned against premium European EVs, not the Nexon EV. Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform with 800V ultra-fast charging architecture, a dual-motor AWD option producing 325 PS, and 708 km ARAI range, the EV6 brings genuinely world-class electric vehicle technology to India. We drove the Standard Range RWD and Long Range AWD variants comprehensively to deliver India’s most thorough EV6 review.

    Key Specifications

    Specification Details
    Battery 77.4 kWh (Long Range)
Motor Power RWD: 228 PS / AWD: 325 PS
ARAI Range RWD: 708 km / AWD: 590 km
Real-World Range 450–520 km (RWD highway)
    0–100 km/h RWD: 7.4s / AWD GT-Line: 5.1s
    800V Fast Charge (10–80%) 18 minutes (350 kW charger)
    V2L Output 3.6 kW
    Starting Price ₹60.95 lakh (ex-showroom)

    Design & Exterior

The EV6’s design is boldly futuristic — the low bonnet with the distinctive star-matrix LED headlamps, the clamshell hood (one piece hood and front fenders), the Shooting Star roof design, and the sporty tail with the connected LED bar create a silhouette that turns heads in Indian traffic irrespective of the surrounding context. The GT-Line’s exclusive 20-inch dual-tone alloys and the black exterior elements are genuinely premium. The EV6 looks ₹1 crore — at ₹61 lakh, it’s genuinely underpriced for its visual and material quality.

    Interior & Features

The EV6’s interior showcases the E-GMP platform’s advantage — the completely flat floor (no transmission tunnel), the enormous 1.2 sq.m panoramic sunroof, the augmented reality HUD (heads-up display projecting navigation arrows onto the actual road view), dual 12.3-inch screens, Meridian premium audio (14 speakers), ventilated heated massage front seats, and the unusual relaxation mode (adjustable steering column, reclined seat — allows semi-resting during DC charging stops) create a genuinely different premium experience from any Indian EV.

    Range & 800V Charging

Over 2,800 km of testing: RWD real-world highway range: 450–480 km at 100–110 km/h; city range: 550+ km. The 800V architecture’s headline achievement: 10–80% charge in 18 minutes using a 350 kW charger. While 350 kW chargers are currently rare in India, the EV6 uses standard 50 kW DC chargers at 10–80% in approximately 75 minutes. The V2L capability powered a 3.6 kW external device — we used it to run a laptop and phone charging setup during a highway stop.

    Performance (GT-Line AWD)

The AWD GT-Line’s 325 PS and 605 Nm delivers 0–100 km/h in 5.1 seconds — supercar territory at this price bracket. The Boost mode (available for 10 seconds at a time) unleashes maximum power for overtaking on highways. Highway cruising at 120–130 km/h is silent, effortless, and refined in a way that no ICE vehicle under ₹80 lakh can match. The EV6 GT-Line is simply the most thrilling driving experience available in India under ₹65 lakh.

    Ride Quality & Handling

E-GMP’s 77.4 kWh battery creates a low centre of gravity — the EV6’s handling composure in corners is significantly better than its 2,015 kg weight suggests. The adaptive suspension (GT-Line) adjusts in Eco, Normal, and Sport modes. Highway ride quality is exceptional — competitive with the Mercedes EQC at ₹1 crore+. The large 235/55 R19 tyres provide planted stability and excellent wet-road grip.

    Safety

8 airbags. Level 2+ ADAS: Highway Driving Assist II (maintains speed, steering, and lane position on highways), Remote Smart Parking, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert. AR-HUD for navigation. The EV6’s driver assistance systems are among the most sophisticated available in India at any price.

    Price & Variants

    • RWD Standard Range: ₹60.95 lakh
    • GT-Line AWD: ₹65.95 lakh

    Pros and Cons

    Pros Cons
800V architecture — 18 min charge capability 350 kW chargers rare in India currently
AR-HUD — most advanced safety tech in India ₹60.95 lakh starting price — premium market only
708 km ARAI range — best in India Kia service centres limited vs Mercedes/BMW
Flat floor — most interior space in class AWD GT-Line at ₹65.95L faces Tesla Model Y competition
    GT-Line 0–100 in 5.1s — supercar performance High tyre replacement costs (235/55 R19)

    Verdict

The Kia EV6 is India’s most technologically advanced passenger car at under ₹70 lakh — the 800V architecture, AR-HUD, 708 km range, and flat-floor packaging represent engineering achievements that European brands charge ₹1 crore+ to deliver. For premium EV buyers who can utilise its full potential, the EV6 GT-Line AWD at ₹65.95 lakh is the most compelling electric vehicle purchase in India’s premium segment. Rating: 9.3/10.
