Mahindra XUV 3XO Review 2026 – Performance, Safety & Mileage

    support@wheelxpress.comBy support@wheelxpress.comJuly 3, 2026No Comments4 Mins Read

Mahindra’s XUV 3XO (the rebranded XUV300 facelift) arrived as a serious statement in the sub-compact SUV segment. With class-leading safety features, a punchy turbo engine, and Mahindra’s improved ADAS suite, the XUV 3XO 2026 targets buyers who want SUV presence without the premium SUV price tag. Priced from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), it competes with the Nexon, Brezza, and Venue. We evaluated the XUV 3XO AX7L — the top-spec luxury variant — to give you this comprehensive review.

    Quick Specifications

    Parameter Turbo Petrol Diesel
Engine 1.2L mStallion TGDi 1.5L mHawk
    Power 130 bhp 117 bhp
    Torque 230 Nm 300 Nm

Ground Clearance 180 mm 180 mm
Boot Space 364 litres 364 litres
    Starting Price ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

    Design & Exterior

The XUV 3XO’s exterior is bold and distinctly Mahindra. The wide hexagonal grille with chrome accents, split LED headlamps (DRLs on top, main beam below), and sculpted bonnet give it a muscular presence that’s larger than its 3,990 mm length suggests. The flared wheel arches, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and body cladding emphasize its SUV credentials. The rear features connected LED tail lamps with a light bar. Available in striking dual-tone colours including Napoli Black and Everest White with contrasting roofs, the XUV 3XO makes a strong visual statement on Indian roads.

    Interior & Features

The AX7L variant’s interior is among the most feature-loaded in the sub-compact SUV segment. A 10.25-inch infotainment screen with AdrenoX interface, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 7-inch fully digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats with ventilation, Harman Kardon 7-speaker sound system, and 360-degree camera combine to create a genuinely upmarket experience. Level 2 ADAS — Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring — is a segment first at this price. The XUV 3XO’s cabin quality and feature count punch well above its class.

    Engine & Performance

The 1.2L TGDi turbo petrol is the star powertrain — 130 bhp and 230 Nm give it a peppy, enthusiastic character. The 6AT is smooth and well-matched; shifts are quick under Sport mode. Mahindra’s new 1.5L diesel is equally impressive: 300 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm makes the XUV 3XO an effortless highway machine. Both engines feel refined and BSc6-compliant. The turbo petrol’s 0–100 km/h time of ~10.3 seconds is the fastest in the sub-compact SUV segment.

    Mileage & Fuel Efficiency

Real-world turbo petrol AT efficiency came in at 14.2 km/l (city) and 17.6 km/l (highway) in our test. The diesel MT impressed with 18.4 km/l on highways. For buyers doing 25–30 km daily in city traffic, the turbo petrol AT’s running cost of ₹7.50 per km is manageable. The diesel makes more economic sense for high-mileage users, returning approximately ₹6.30 per km in mixed conditions.

    Ride Quality & Handling

The XUV 3XO rides on a well-tuned suspension — it’s supple over city surfaces but maintains excellent high-speed stability. Ground clearance of 180 mm handles village roads and flooded patches confidently. Body roll is well-controlled for a sub-compact SUV. The electric power steering is well-weighted and more communicative than the Nexon’s. Multiple drive modes meaningfully alter the driving character. The diesel AT is the most relaxed highway cruiser in the lineup.

    Safety Features

The XUV 3XO scores 5 stars in Bharat NCAP — the highest in the sub-compact SUV segment. It offers 6 airbags (some variants), ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill Hold, ISOFIX, and the most comprehensive ADAS suite in the class. The structural integrity of Mahindra’s steel safety cage is genuinely impressive for a sub-4-metre vehicle.

    Price & Variants

    Variant Engine Ex-showroom Price
    MX1 1.2T Petrol MT ₹7.99 lakh
    MX3 1.2T / 1.5D MT ₹10.49 – ₹11.49 lakh
    AX5 All engines / AT ₹12.49 – ₹13.99 lakh
    AX7L All engines / AT ₹14.49 – ₹15.49 lakh

    Pros & Cons

    Pros Cons
5-star Bharat NCAP — class leader Boot (364L) smaller than some rivals
Level 2 ADAS at this price Rear visibility limited by design
Punchy turbo petrol with 230 Nm Mahindra service quality varies by city
Panoramic sunroof on top trims Diesel AT only on top variants
Harman Kardon sound system On-road price can exceed ₹18 lakh for top spec

    Verdict

The Mahindra XUV 3XO 2026 is arguably the most compelling sub-compact SUV in India when you factor in safety, features, and performance together. No rival in the sub-4-metre SUV space offers 5-star NCAP, Level 2 ADAS, a Harman Kardon sound system, and 230 Nm of turbo torque in one package. For safety-conscious buyers willing to stretch to ₹14–15 lakh, the AX7L is extraordinary value. Our recommendation: AX5 Turbo Petrol AT at ₹13.49 lakh for the best features-to-price ratio.
