Suzuki Burgman Street 125 Review – Maxi Scooter Experience

    support@wheelxpress.comBy support@wheelxpress.comJuly 3, 2026No Comments6 Mins Read

The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 occupies an aspirational niche in India’s crowded scooter market — the maxi-scooter segment, where practicality meets executive style. Inspired by Suzuki’s premium Burgman 400 and 650 sold internationally, the Burgman Street 125 brings the same distinctive maxi-scooter design language to a 125 cc platform accessible to Indian buyers. At ₹95,800–₹1.02 lakh, it’s priced at a premium over conventional 125 cc scooters, but the bold design, additional features, and comfortable long-distance capability justify the premium for many buyers. Who is the Burgman Street 125 for? Think of office executives, daily commuters who take pride in their vehicle, and middle-aged riders upgrading from a conventional scooter to something more mature and comfortable. In this review, we find out if the Burgman Street 125 truly delivers the maxi-scooter experience at a 125 cc price point.

    Design & Styling

The Burgman Street 125 turns heads like no other scooter in its price range. The maxi-scooter silhouette — characterised by a broad, imposing front fascia, large windscreen-inspired front apron, horizontal LED DRL eyebrow lights, and a substantial body — communicates executive presence on city roads. The chrome accents, piano-black trim, and silver highlights on the instrument cluster binnacle give it a premium European look. The seat is broad and stepped, with an elevated rider section that provides commanding road visibility. Available in Metallic Matte Black, Pearl Mirage White, and Metallic Stellar Blue, the colour palette targets mature riders. The overall build quality is Suzuki-excellent — the panels are thick, the paint is deep and lustrous, and the chrome doesn’t bubble or rust. In a market full of look-alike scooters, the Burgman Street 125 is genuinely distinctive.

    Engine & Performance

Suzuki’s 124 cc SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) fuel-injected engine produces 8.58 bhp and 10 Nm. This is the most powerful 125 cc scooter engine in its segment, and it shows in everyday riding. Throttle response is crisp and progressive — the Burgman Street 125 feels noticeably more energetic than the Honda Activa 125 or TVS Jupiter 125 despite having a similar displacement. The 0–60 km/h sprint completes in approximately 6.5 seconds. Highway cruising at 80 km/h is relaxed, and the scooter will touch 100 km/h on a flat stretch, though this is not its natural habitat. The CVT is calibrated for smooth, traffic-friendly power delivery. Engine refinement is excellent — vibration levels are very low, and the exhaust note is quiet and unobtrusive. This is a scooter built for dignified commuting, not excitement.

    Mileage & Running Costs

Real-world fuel economy from our city test returned 46–50 km/l — close to the ARAI figure of 51.5 km/l. The 5.6-litre tank gives a range of approximately 260–280 km between fill-ups. Running costs are low: a standard service costs ₹600–900 at a Suzuki authorised service centre. However, Suzuki’s dealer network, while improving, is less extensive than Honda’s or Hero’s — in smaller cities, the nearest service centre may be 30–50 km away, which is a practical consideration. Spare parts are readily available and affordably priced.

    Ride Quality & Handling

The Burgman Street 125 has perhaps the most comfortable ride quality of any 125 cc scooter in India. The 105 kg kerb weight provides excellent stability, and the telescopic front fork handles road imperfections with a plushness that rivals scooters twice its price. The broad 180 mm rear seat and ergonomically designed footboard reduce fatigue on long commutes. Ground clearance of 160 mm is good for Indian road conditions. The maxi-scooter proportions do make tight U-turns slightly more demanding than a compact scooter, but this is a minor inconvenience that riders adapt to quickly. The front disc brake with CBS provides reassuring stopping power. We completed a 120 km Sunday ride on the Burgman without any fatigue — an impressive achievement for a 125 cc scooter.

    Features & Technology

The Burgman Street 125 comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster (analogue speedometer, digital console) featuring fuel gauge, odometer, service reminder, and clock. Mobile phone USB charging is standard. Keyless ignition (on the EX variant) is a genuine convenience for everyday use — fumbling for keys in rain or with grocery bags is eliminated. LED headlamp and tail lamp are standard. A storage hook under the seat area allows bag hanging. The dedicated phone holder in the front stowage area is a thoughtful touch. Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone integration is not available, which is a gap compared to competitors like the Hero Maestro Edge 125 or TVS Ntorq 125.

    Comfort & Practicality

The Burgman Street 125 excels in long-distance comfort — its broad seat, generous floorboard, and upright riding posture make daily commutes comfortable even over 60–80 km daily distances. Underseat storage of 21.5 litres fits a full-face helmet on most models. The front utility box is useful for phones, sunglasses, or small wallets. Pillion comfort is excellent — the rear seat is wide, the grab rails are sturdy, and even extended 40–50 km pillion rides are comfortable. This is perhaps the finest pillion scooter in its segment.

    Price & Variants

    Variant Ex-showroom Price
    Burgman Street 125 (Standard) ₹95,800
Burgman Street 125 EX (Keyless) ₹1.02 lakh

    Pros & Cons

    Pros Cons
Distinctive maxi-scooter styling Limited Suzuki dealer network in smaller cities
Most comfortable ride in 125 cc segment No Bluetooth connectivity
Powerful 8.58 bhp 125 cc engine Small 5.6-litre fuel tank
Excellent pillion comfort Heavier feel in tight city manoeuvres
Keyless ignition on EX variant Underseat storage slightly smaller than expected
Low vibration, refined engine Premium price for 125 cc

    Verdict

The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 is a genuinely premium product in a segment full of conventional alternatives. It delivers the maxi-scooter experience — in terms of presence, comfort, and riding refinement — at an accessible price point. If you’re an adult professional or executive looking for a scooter that reflects your status and provides genuine comfort on daily commutes, the Burgman Street 125 is the most compelling choice in the 125 cc segment. Its sole significant weakness is Suzuki’s thinner service network compared to Honda and Hero — factor this in if you live in a smaller town. Otherwise, the Burgman Street 125 is a sophisticated, mature, and well-rounded scooter that will age gracefully in your garage.
