MG ZS EV Review 2026 – Practical Electric SUV for Indian Families

    support@wheelxpress.comBy support@wheelxpress.comJuly 4, 2026Updated:July 4, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

The MG ZS EV was one of India’s earliest premium electric SUVs — launched in 2020, updated in 2022 and 2024, the ZS EV has matured into a practical, feature-rich family electric SUV. The 2026 ZS EV features a 50.3 kWh battery, 461 km ARAI range, dual-screen setup, and MG’s comprehensive i-SMART connected features at ₹18.98 lakh. In a competitive segment that now includes the Creta EV and Nexon EV Max, we assess whether the ZS EV still delivers competitive value.

    Key Specifications

    Specification Details
    Battery 50.3 kWh
    Motor 176 PS, 280 Nm
    ARAI Range 461 km
    Real-World Range 310–350 km (mixed)
    0–100 km/h 8.5 seconds
DC Fast Charge (0–80%) 55 minutes (76 kW)
    Starting Price ₹18.98 lakh

    Features & Interior

The MG ZS EV’s 10.1-inch touchscreen and 7-inch digital instrument cluster, i-SMART connected features (75+), wireless Android Auto/CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and 6-speaker audio create a feature-rich cabin. The i-SMART Amazon Alexa integration and remote AC pre-conditioning are practically useful for Indian conditions. Boot space at 448L is the best of any electric SUV under ₹22 lakh.

    Range & Charging Performance

Real-world: city: 340–370 km; highway: 300–325 km; mixed: 315–340 km. The 76 kW DC fast charge (0–80% in 55 minutes) is competitive. AC home charging (7.4 kW): 0–100% in approximately 7 hours. The ZS EV’s range is competitive with the Nexon EV Max though the Creta EV (51.4 kWh) edges it on range.

    Safety

6 airbags. ABS + EBD. ESP. Forward collision warning. Blind spot detection. Rear cross traffic alert. The safety package is adequate — no NCAP rating for the EV variant.

    Price & Variants

    • Excite Pro: ₹18.98 lakh
    • Exclusive Pro: ₹21.99 lakh

    Pros and Cons

    Pros Cons
448L boot — best in segment MG service network smaller than Hyundai/Tata
    176 PS / 280 Nm — competitive performance No V2L or V2H capability
75+ i-SMART connected features No ADAS features on any variant
76 kW DC fast charge — among fastest in class Real range (310–350 km) below Creta EV 51.4 kWh
Panoramic sunroof at ₹18.98L Ageing platform — 3rd gen ZS vs new Creta EV platform

    Verdict

The MG ZS EV remains a solid, practical family electric SUV with the best boot space in the segment and competitive range. However, the Creta EV now directly challenges it at similar pricing with a newer dedicated EV platform, better performance, V2H, and Hyundai’s service network advantage. The ZS EV retains value through its higher boot space and MG’s aggressive pricing. Rating: 8.5/10.
