Hyundai Alcazar Review – Best 7-Seater SUV?

    support@wheelxpress.comBy support@wheelxpress.comJuly 3, 2026No Comments5 Mins Read

The Hyundai Alcazar occupies a uniquely practical position in Hyundai’s Indian lineup — it is the Creta’s bigger sibling, inheriting its proven platform and powertrains but extending them into a proper three-row family SUV. For Indian families who love the Creta but need more seats, the Alcazar presents a compelling upgrade path. The 2026 Alcazar adds more features, revised ADAS capabilities, and improved interior materials to compete in the ₹18–22 lakh 7-seater SUV bracket. We drive it to evaluate whether it is the best 7-seater SUV for Indian families.

    Design & Exterior

The Alcazar’s design is a lengthened, more premium interpretation of the Creta’s face. The 2026 update brings the same Parametric Hidden Lighting DRL signature as the Creta, integrating LEDs into a connecting bar across the front. The front fascia is bold — wider, with a larger grille and more prominent air intakes.

At 4500 mm, the Alcazar is 150 mm longer than the Creta, enabling the third-row seating. The side profile shows the extended rear overhang clearly, with flush door handles on upper variants adding a modern touch. 18-inch machined alloy wheels look handsome. The rear gets Alcazar-specific LED tail lamps with a distinctive light signature that differentiates it from the Creta at a glance.

    Interior & Cabin Quality

This is the Alcazar’s strongest suit. The cabin offers tri-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front and second-row seats across upper variants. The second-row captain seats (6-seat configuration) are supremely comfortable — Hyundai Relaxation Seats with leg rests and dedicated climate vents make long journeys genuinely pleasant for middle-row occupants.

Third-row access is via a tumble-forward second-row seat. The third row is best suited for children — adult legroom is tight, though headroom is adequate. Boot space with all three rows occupied is a modest 180 litres — enough for a few cabin bags. Fold the third row and you get a proper 539 litres.

Dashboard quality borrows the Creta’s premium materials and dual 10.25-inch screens (infotainment + digital cluster), creating an upscale driving environment that competes comfortably with vehicles costing significantly more.

    Infotainment & Technology

The 10.25-inch touchscreen with Bluelink connected car features offers remote start, climate pre-conditioning, vehicle tracking, and OTA updates. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work seamlessly. The Bose 8-speaker audio system on top variants delivers impressive audio quality.

Hyundai’s ADAS suite — Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance — includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance, Driver Attention Warning, and Adaptive Smart Cruise Control. This is among the most comprehensive ADAS packages available under ₹22 lakh.

    Engine & Performance

The 2.0L petrol automatic is the most refined powertrain choice for the Alcazar’s 1600+ kg weight. It delivers 159 bhp with smooth, effortless progression. City driving is relaxed and highway overtaking is confident. The 1.5L diesel is the practical choice for high-mileage users, combining adequate performance with 20+ km/l efficiency.

The base 1.5L petrol can feel slightly underpowered when the vehicle is fully loaded, particularly on inclines. We recommend the 2.0L petrol or 1.5L diesel for the most satisfying drive experience.

    Ride Quality & Handling

The Alcazar rides well — Hyundai has tuned the suspension specifically for Indian road conditions, prioritising comfort over sportiness. The 200 mm ground clearance handles urban road defects well. At highway speeds, the Alcazar is stable and serene, with minimal body roll and well-controlled wind noise.

    Safety Features

The Alcazar comes equipped with 6 airbags standard, ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill Start Assist, all-wheel disc brakes, and comprehensive Level 2 ADAS. The 5-star NCAP-rated Creta platform underpins the Alcazar, providing strong crash protection fundamentals.

    Price & Variants

    Variant Ex-Showroom Price
    Executive 1.5L Petrol MT (7-seat) ₹16.77 lakh
    Platinum 1.5L Diesel AT (6-seat) ₹20.45 lakh
    Signature 2.0L Petrol AT (6-seat) ₹21.99 lakh
    Signature (O) 2.0L Petrol AT ₹22.49 lakh

    Pros & Cons

    Pros Cons
Luxurious 2nd-row captain seats Third row is cramped for adults
Comprehensive Level 2 ADAS Small boot (180L) with all rows up
Dual 10.25-inch screens — premium feel 1.5L petrol feels strained fully loaded
Panoramic sunroof + ventilated seats Pricier than XL6 and other 7-seaters
Excellent Hyundai after-sales network No AWD option

    Verdict

The Hyundai Alcazar 2026 is the best-equipped 7-seater SUV in its price bracket. If you prioritise second-row comfort, technology, and a premium cabin experience, the Alcazar Signature with 2.0L petrol automatic is a near-perfect family SUV for Indian conditions. The comprehensive ADAS suite, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats in rows 1 and 2, and Hyundai’s excellent service network complete the ownership package. Recommended for: Large families requiring comfortable 6–7 seating with premium features under ₹23 lakh.
